Is this the Camera

This is probably a dumb question.
That thing that come up in the preview window that looks like a tripod, Is that the camera? Is the camera where the legs come together and the ends of the legs show the view?

The camera looks like a 4-sided pyramid with a + symbol at the point/peak and 4 lines extending from the base, 1 at each corner. The direction of the 4 lines is the direction the camera is facing. The base of the pyramid represents the size and aspect ratio of the camera's view. The peak and + symbol represent the camera origin.
