Hello, I have a doubt. I make a landscape with the free version of terragen2, and with pov ray make an object (a simple house), it is posibble to put the house into de landscape with the free version? How?

Thanks !

This is about loading an entire population of objects, but it works the same way...only simpler.

So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Thanks!

But I have another doubt: I´m making the house with pov-ray, but it only allows me to save in format *.pov (no obj), so how can i put this house with this format in the land scape make with Terragen2 free version ??

???

Thanks!

Try here .. It's a converter .. Poseray, I believe other members of the forum use it.

Failing that, you can build houses in either Wingz 3D or Blender...both of which are free and can export to obj format..

PoseRay is what a lot of people use here, since it helps align the objects in the OBJ the way everything needs to be set to work well in TG2.

Are you building your object using POV_Ray's primitive objects (box, plane, cylinder etc), or are you using POV to position triangles?

If you are using the POV primitives then as far as I know there is no way to export them to another 3D format; the primitives are entirely procedural and have no implicit geometry to export.

:o I´m making this house with pov ray with primitive types (box, plane, cylinder etc)..So that means I cannot take this into the landscape?? ou  :-[ I have a problem !

As long as you save the final as an OBJ (Wavefront object) file, you'll be fine.  Once imported into TG2, save it as a TGO.

Buy I try to open the house I make with pov ray (house.pov) with poseray to change the format (to obj) but said my image doesn´t have vertices! How can I make a house to put in the landscape made with Terragen2 ?

I think the only way is to do this simple house with Blender, but i never use it. Someone could help me do a simple wood house with this program so i could save it as an obj to import it to my landscape?

Thanks again ! ;)

I'm not convinced that Blender is the only way to do this - Blender can take quite a bit of getting used to...it's not renowned for it's ease of use!

But if this is the way you want to go - I've used it a little bit & have successfully imported a couple of blender objects in to Terragen - I found the little course here quite useful for getting started with it...

Blender is good but definitely takes time to learn.

The texturing is rubbish but take a look at Wings 3D;

http://www.wings3d.com/

the way of working is a little unusual for polygon modellers but once you get then hang of it Wings is very quick for making simple objects for use in Tg scenes.  One major advantage is that the  .obj files it exports will load directly into TG2.

An evening working through some of the tutorials and you should be away.
