Bobby worked pretty hard on converting this city, and it's available to download over at Ashunder
Here are a couple of slices of the city.

As I said before, quite nice work and many thanks to bobby for going through the trouble.

Is he actually the creator of Dystopia?  This package is available at DAZ for Lightwave and Poser for $$.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Mandrake

You can read the full story at Ashunder, in a couple diff. threads.

Do you have a link to the explanation?  Is this free somehow?  Strange, since this package isn't for free on DAZ.  I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing here.  Dystopia sold on DAZ - http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=4722&cat=349&_m=d is just one link of many from the same creators.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

The first two parts of Dystopia are sold at DAZ for... 0$ each :) so they are free as beer (not as speech, obviously).

rcallicotte

So as long as something is given away, then we're free to provide it here in TGO format?  Really?

Thanks Mandrake.  I didn't realize we could upload TGO's from free models.  I'm not sure why I didn't.   :o  Cool.

I did not mean to imply that YOU could! ;)

Err ... I'm pretty sure this is NOT the case. Just because (for example) I give something away this dose not mean that I give permission for anyone else to give it away whether or not they have changed its format. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that unless the original author of the work gives specific permission for redistribution (which will often include riders about maintaining the original format and including a text file with information about the author, web site, email etc) we really should not go about re-posting other peoples work. If I'm wrong then I guess we could all go and subtly change all of lightening's wonderful work (just as an example) and then give them away and in some small way steal his credit or at least his web traffic. Not good !

@cyphyr, I thought someone from Planetside addressed this.  Maybe my memory was correct.  But, if not, I own stuff from DAZ that I have converted to work in TG2 and rendered with it.  I'm sure this is permitted.  But, this issue of free models being distributed needs to be addressed, before we do the wrong thing or miss out on the good...whichever.

Bobby has permission, to tgo this set. I get a news letter from "The 3D Studio" Once a month that has a free obj, I would not be able to redistribute that type of free obj. for example..

Bobby is pretty hot on making sure he has permission to use and of distribute models.  His post is buried in a long thread on Ashundar  but he has established that the models available on the Archibase site are both available legitimately and free , at least for personal use.

Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

I already own these, so it doesn't matter to me.  I have permission, based upon that, to use the object.  Not to sell it, of course.

I appreciate Bobby's hard work.
