Hi Terrageners

I'm pretty new to Terragen 2, been using the old 0,9 release ages ago. At the moment i'm working with the techpreview release until the day i can afford to buy the real thing (hopefully soon).

Here are my two first tests, both using World Machine Pro 2.0 for landscape generation and rendering is ofcourse done with TG2.

lightning

second one looks better (better sun position)
hows the new World machine anyway is it any good?

Saurav

The second one is very photo realistic. As lightning said great sun position.

rcallicotte

Great lighting on the second one and good snow placement.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Phylloxera

The second render isvery good, too realistic ! I like it !

Maximus

lightning: Thank you :) and yes i kinda have to agree that the second one is the better one, the first one feels a bit to "busy" with the clouds there. The new version of World Machne is great, some major improvements been done to it which helps in landscape creation and i see now when i'm using it in combination with TG2 that it helps so much when you wanna produce realistic scenery. To sum it up with one word, yep the new WM2 is a great release, well worth the price. :)

Saurav: Thanks :) glad you like it

calico: Thanks! :) the snowplacement seemed to be the most logical one for a mountain like that where some rocks are exposed and the rest remain covered. But there's one thing i'd like to know how to do in TG2 and it's snow with thickness.. this one feels rather thin. How do you create thicker snow on a landscape ?

Phylloxera: Thank you! :) good to hear you like my landscape.

I got another one cooking right now, when it looks good enough i'll be back to post it here again.

Btw, i don't seem to be able to get the water to work in TG2. Is there some special trick to it ?

lightning

thats cool ;)
with the water all you do is go to the water tab then add a lake ( make sure the lake plain is below your camera and or else nothing will show ;))

lightning: That's all i need to do with the water ? it doesn't need to be connected to anything ? that's what i tried and it didn't render in the preview or in the final render which i thought was odd. But i'll try again if it's that simple. Must been something silly i did wrong :) thanks!

Hannes

Check the "water level". By default it's 100. Maybe it is below the terrain. Try higher values.

Maximus

#9
Hannes: Yes i tried that too, but i will do a brand new test. Maybe something else i missed in my tests.. thanks.

Two new images, yet again a WM2 generated landscape is used. These two took between an hour to two hours to render. The landscape is actually not as big as it looks, it's quite small. :) i wanted a more atmospheric feel, hope i managed to get it this time..

Seems time get my hands on WM2 after finishing my project, those are some neat looking terrains! :)

nvseal

Dang, those are looking nice! I'm going to have to look into this more.

lightning

Mr_Lamppost

Nice work.

I was going to order my WM upgrade tonight but got distracted by other things  ;D
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.
