Found a reasonably simple way to create caves of all sorts and sizes...
As a hint: this way has seperate settings for floor and ceiling. And it takes some time to get the various parts in the right positions.

Just to be completely random and left field, dose this remind any one of a large pair of lips?
Regards to you.

And the winner is Neuspadrin!
Yes, 2 planets colliding. That means that you can make the cave as big as you can make the displacement on the surfaces. It also means however, that you won't have an entrance opening, at least not with ease.

I was going to say really dense clouds over a mountain
The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

This is the next version.
I found an easy way to fake an opening by placing a bright light against the ceiling in the distance. Other ways could involve craters...
Next version might have some water in it...

And the latest one, with water...
(I'll be gone for the next week, so no more updates 'till my return).

Ooooh. This is getting cool. I love that lighting and how it glows from the ceiling.
So this is Disney World. Can we live here?

Here is the latest version...
Posted earlier on Ashundar, didn't find the time to do it here before.
Added some small rocks and changed POV.

Looks pretty good. The green is unnatural and the quality needs to go up to get rid of that fuzzy look.
So this is Disney World. Can we live here?
