Hi,
In TP5 there is now support for user defined custom bindings. This means you can customise things like mouse manipulation in the 3D Preview, or what keys perform different functions. Essentially you can customise any of the actions you see in the Mouse and Key Settings window.
This is pretty new and there are still a couple of caveats.
First off, for the time I being I would suggest that you only customise bindings using a similar basic input style as they already were. By this I mean if some action is primarily performed using the mouse, stick to doing it with the mouse and don't try and do it with keys. Someone in another thread mentioned trying to replace right mouse click for the context menu with the tab key. Right now that isn't going to work.
Key bindings which match menu item shortcuts are going to give unreliable results. For example if I add a binding of cmd-s, which is the shortcut for Save on the Mac, for pausing the 3D Preview then the menu shortcut will override the 3D Preview action. Every time I use cmd-s I will be saving the project rather than pausing the preview.
The custom bindings system will be improved before the final release.
Just a quick note on the Customise Input Bindings window. You can delete bindings from the Input Bindings list using the delete key. I made the choice not to include a delete button, I didn't think it was needed.
Regards,
Jo
