Rendering Sky domes?

Hi, in the 1.0 version of terragen there was a script for rendering sky domes out.
Does anyone know of a script  or chan file like that for 2.0?
Thanks, Mike

There is no such script, but with the built-in animation functions of TG2 it should be fairly easy to duplicate the previous functionality. You must have the animation version, then just create keyframes for the camera pointing in the directions you need - usually 6 angles at 90 degrees to each other. You should have 1 keyframe for each frame, for a total of 6 frames (or if you're using lower FoV's, whatever will correspond to the number of images you're using).

In the future this kind of functionality should be available directly through plugins or native functionality.

Hi,

I think it may actually be pretty easy to write a .chan file for this, at least to set up the camera orientation. Maybe we should do one and include it with the distro.

How about a simple .tgc of an animated camera that can be loaded and plugged in, with only the rotation animated, but the FOV preset to 90 or whatever degrees? The translation settings could be left clean or preset (no keyframes) to a rational position above the 0,0,0. All the user would need to do is set the render aspect ratio to 1:1.
Some bits and bobs
The Galileo Fallacy, 'Argumentum ad Galileus':
"They laughed at Galileo. They're laughing at me. Therefore I am the next Galileo."

Nope. Galileo was right for the simpler reason that he was right.

Hi, thanks. I have the deep version and can proably make a chan file easy enough with a 3d program..
I thought maybe it was already in Tg2 and I was over looking something.
That and it was one of those "We need this yesterday" situations.

I did run into one problem where I did point the camera straight up and set the camera angle to 90.
I did a render and got a image that looked like an 8 sided star with some parts not rendered.
I didn't have time to pursue it any further though.

If I get a chance to make a chan file for sky domes I'll pass it along.
thanks,
Mike
