Hi, I'm new to this and haven't used Terragen yet.

1) Are whole TG2 scenes easily (or, not) exportable to Softimage XSI 6 or 7 with all materials and textures?

2) Are all the objects (vegetation, rocks, terrains, sky and clouds) actual geometry? It must be a huge amount of polygons if export is possible.

BTW, the gallery examples are really nice.

It is not easy to export entire scenes to any other application at this time, however you can export the terrain. The suggested workflow for working with other apps is to export the terrain for shadow casting, etc. and then render out your basic frames from TG2 and use them as front-projected texture over the background and terrain. Match the lighting with lights in the app as much as possible - this is a manual process. If you need reflections, you'll have to manually create a reflection map in TG2 by doing multiple renders and stitching together in another app.

In the future interoperability will be improved to make these processes easier and more automated.

I understand what you mean about duplicating lighting of the Terragen projections in XSI. I'm thinking that the new Xfrog 4.3 Importer for XSI 7 (64 bit) could be used to nicely round out an XSI scene that has TG projected scenes as you described, especially if the Xfrog objects with full geometry visually blend into the projected TG scene elements.

This importer was released today, as a matter of fact. Here's the link to my post:

Thanks.
