Hi all I've made  aterrain that i like except that i'd like to flatten or smooth out some small details that occur near to teh ground level...i'm looking for a way to esentially flatten the landscape out near 0 altitude...any suggestions welcome

You can go to border blending and play with that setting or you can add an operator to your heightfield..."heightfield adjust vertical"...

is your terrain a fractal? if so you can set up a distribution node, and connect your power fractal there and set the altitude distribution as pleased. I think it might work...

The Geostation

There are a number of different ways to achieve this, but it depends on the overall effect you want.

The easiest is to reduce the "displacement amplitude".   If you are looking to recreate some plains, then I'd recommend looking at increasing the "feature scale" and possibly the "lead-in scale"

If I may add to Geostation's suggestion perhaps make the smallest feature larger.

The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.
