Some Lambert weirdness

I've been playing with Lucio's excellent "embossed snow" (http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=753.0) and came across an interesting edge case: when the Lambert shader is switched on (as described in p.6 of that thread), and the Sun is on the horizon, you get this rather strange yellow glow along the edge of the snow, which I doubt is what would happen in real life.

And for an even weirder effect, this time in the sky, try plugging a Lambert shader in between the Atmosphere and a cloud layer (in this case a very high cirrus):

May appeal to those who want to make sci-fi type scenes.

Here is another image with the black sky. The Earth is growing old, and the Sun is swelling to red giant status... (apparently, the sky would look something like this when the Sun is at this stage, as there will be little or no blue light to scatter in the atmosphere - cf. for example Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun.

Fun stuff.

I'm assuming it wouldn't be safe to go skiing there.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?
