Hi, i have just downloaded the beta and can't wait to try it and learn it, after loading the program i found myself wondering where the example content was but it seems there is none in the beta? Looking in the Planetside Software\Terragen 2 Free Edition (Beta) folder it seems that way anyway atm, but yeah i took a trip to the file sharing forum area and downloaded a few things so far it seems that

.tgd = project files
.tgc = Clip Files

But im not too sure about the difference between these yet, there also seems to be population objects .tgo etc, with these i see theres a loader is there any way to have them in a folder list for quick loading? if not i think that would be a handy feature to add maybe, also i notice that if you go to add one and hit cancel it adds the loader object to the list still but maybe thats a feature.

Anyways if anyone can explain that would be great, can't wait to learn the app as it looks amazing. Thanks :D

TGD files are the project files. They contain everything of the scene apart from the actual models and the textures used for imagemaps.
TGC files are clip files. These are collections of nodes that you can use to distribute to other users or use for other projects so you don't have to recreate an effect every time you want to use it.
For tgo model files. When you add a reader node you are given the option to fetch the file you want with the windows folder dialog which is, I assume, what you meant.
Figured out how to do clicky signatures

You are correct that there are no "preset" files included in the Beta. There is also no browsable "library" function, although there is the beginning of such functionality. These are the kinds of improvements likely to come in a future update.

Yes, it's called 'dandelO's Public Library' and can be found on various places on the internet. I joke! :D :D :D
But seriously, here... http://www.ashundar.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=cat184;tpstart=10  ;)

I'm glad that's a feature on the to-do list, a built in browser window with drag/drop functionality would be handy, indeed!

Thanks everyone, yeah for the models thing i mentioned i mean like a toolbox/library of user ones etc, i guess it's not currently there but sound like all that type of thing is going to come in the future which is great news.

In the node/module designer it would be cool if scrolling could be done by holding middle mouse button down as well as Alt and drag imo.

Also in the node view if you add a Heightfield Generate and select then hit generate now it re-renders the view even if not connected to anything it should only do this when theres a connection active imo.

DandelO thanks, yeah i saw this yesterday and downloaded they look great still havent had the chance to explore everything yet but im getting a basic understanding of how things work.

Edit - Btw i found a crash i posted in the support area with steps to re-produce it.

You can do this. Go to the Preferences, click on the Input Settings pane, change the Input Presets popup menu to Custom and then click the Customise Bindings button. Customise away. There is documentation for all this ( preferences, Customise Input Bindings window ) in the Documentation section of the forum.
