We have been doing optimizations all along. That work will be ongoing up to and beyond the 2.0 final release. We are unlikely to make any really major performance breakthroughs unfortunately, but things should improve over time.

I have wondered if one of the final things Matt and Jo will do will include rendering optimizations, before final release.

Terragen render looks better, but how do the render times compare?
