Can 3ds objects be imported into TG2?

Not currently, no. This format may be supported in the future, either natively or in a 3rd party plugin. Further information about supported formats for the final release will be made available closer to the product launch later this year.

Wings3D worked for me. Open the 3DS object there and then export it to wavefront obj.

Read in an other thread they're having a plugin 3dsMax/TG2 on this site :
