This just came about while I was messing around with some spheres.  Sort of just a standard 3D renderer test type image.

Gosh, this looks fun.  Great imagination.

Are they internally lit?  It also looks some faux SSS there.

Each object is two spheres, the internal sphere has some texturing and is emitting light.  The outside sphere is a watershader to allow the internal light to pass though.
