Here's my second posted, 10th actual image. Most, if not all, of my images won't be titled anything fancy, mostly for the fact that I couldn't think of anything fancy. :) So, here it is.
I don't know what's up with the funky shadows on the ground....

detail: 0.5, AA:3, relative detail: 3, sample quality: 4, blur radius: 8. Atmosphere samples, 64. render time: about 15-16 minutes.

So it turns out on my last few renders, I had still been using the technology preview! I finally found the new release though, and used it for this render.

You are using the Free edition, right?  Then this is pretty good.  I would prefer to see more of the landscape, meaning I would move the sun to see better.  But, I'm not sure what you're going for...
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

What's so funky about the shadows on the ground? You mean they look splotchy/speckled? The reason for this is highly probably your detail setting of 0.5.
Also, with higher detail the GI settings will turn out better as well.
Actually, when rendering at detail 0.5 the GI of 3/4 will become 1.5/2.

I agree with calico, maybe another sun angle/position would work a bit better. I always like to work with light from the sides. Often ~90 degrees to the camera, sometimes a bit more/less, depends on the terrain and amount of shadows I want.

Still pretty dark for my tastes...
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

okay, here's a new one..a lot brighter than the other two. Different clouds again.

hmm, no - now you spoiled it towards the other direction. your clouds do not have any visible features anymore. there is also somehing wrong with the cloud shadows on the ground. If you would like to take an advice, start over again with a completely default atmosphere and a default cloud shader (set to 3D clouds). Then don't turn all the knobs and whistles at once. Use them one at a time and se what they do.

Frank

I just figured out why the shadows looked weird...I had previously followed (edit::)dandelO's terra turf tutorial and forgot about it. So, here's a new render with yet more different clouds and the shadows fixed:

Quote...stonefinger's terra turf tutorial...

Christ, I haven't used that nickname for a while! My girlfriend used to take the mickey out of me for that one! :D
Unfortunately, I can't change the url to that site as it's a Google Page Creator page.

For a far better version of the 'Terraturf', check out my updated version(v2.5) on page 2 of my library thread... http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=4922.0
