Hi there,

I was thinking about creating a few atmosphere presets around the four seasons.
Obviously, in reality there are infitine variants of skies, but I'm looking to re-create "The spring sky", "The summer sky" and so on.
So I was asking myself: if I can choose only one sky per season, what would be my favourite, most clichée, most typical sky for any of the 4 seasons? So that if you would be shown a picture, you would go "that's a spring sky", or fall sky or whatever.

I have my own picture in mind about what would be the perfect sky for any of the seasons, but I'm interested in finding out about what *you* think represents the seasons best?

Please use this thread to post links to skies you think are typical for the 4 seasons. I think that's going to be an interestig exercise for everyone on the forum.

Thanks,
Frank

Great idea but you may find that you have to limit it Geographically as well.
For example I'm sure a spring morning in New Zealand will look entirely different to one in the South of France.
Also a typical day round here (Somerset) is flat monotone grey at the moment :( not very inspiring lol
Good Luck

Hi Richard, good thoughts. Let's talk about seasons in nothern hemisphere, to begin with.
Maybe the whole thread is a mission impossible, but I would still like to know how the season and their typical skies would look like for everyone.

Cheers,
Frank

Regional seasons certainly look and feel quite different; that is why I moved to Arizona from Chicago 21 years ago. Example: The midwestern winter here in the USA appears mono chromatically dismal compared to here in the sunny southwest - not to mention the difference to average temperature. However, if someone here is missing the fall season, all they have to do is drive 2 hours to the north or northeast to get fall colors and snow.

As far are our local (Phoenix) seasons, the most dramatic atmospheres are when the monsoons arrive during the period from mid July through early September. Massive cumulonimbus build during the day and sometimes will display spectacular lighting in the evening - sometimes with rain; sometimes not. Dust storms can also occur; and, when they do they will dump a lot of sand everywhere.

Winter in this area will bring light rain; however, the sky is generally filled with sunshine.
