Help...Exploding Fake Stones...

I know I saw something about this somewhere but I'm hooped if I can find it...is there a way to stop this from happening...it's making me insane and killing all my attempts today and for the last week really...been displacing bitmaps for rocks with moderate success and no explosions but the fake rocks are way better when they work.. ...

I know it's that there are displacements setup that are either three digits beyond the decimal or just too much.  Not much help, I guess.  I see this more frequently than I would like.
