Pretty cool work.

Thanks, so do I think, though I'm just beginner and working with the first and free version.  ;) Terragen v.0.943 even in its first and free version is great !

You just wait and see what can be accomplished with Terragen 2. I'm not a regular poster but I've watched the forums for little while now and the images that these people are creating are just amazing. Dandelo rendering unusual objects and putting TG2 to its limits. Mohawk with his amazing scenery and I have to say the recent project with parting the Water, astounding. Moodflow creates the most realistic pictures I have ever seen. and Ryan Archer's pictures make my jaw drop. These are just some of the few names that stand out in my head. All pictures that come through are amazing.

Keep up the great work everyone, very impressed with the VR :D

Thanks for the compliments Ryan. The fun thing is: we're all still learning as well (which means you might get far nicer results when you know how stuff works). I'm sure the others you named think about it the same way I do.

But I agree, you should try TG2!
Howgh!

Likewise. Thanks, Ryan! :) And yes, I'm always still learning aswell, and am constantly blown away by things I see posted in this place. I started out in 3D with TG 0.9, it's a fantastic stepping stone into the CG world and I'm sure in no time you'll be blowing us away with TG2 panoramas too, Trekker! Great site by the way, I spent some time there yesterday.
Welcome to PS! :)

Many thanks for your comments. When I see your pictures made with Terragen 2, it's obviously better than the former version. I had a look at it, but found it not so intuitive as the first version. I'll buy the v.0,943 at first and will upload the TG v.2 later.

As far as this example is concerned :

http://www.visites-interactives.eu/fr/visite-gypaete/site/gypaete.html

the final size is :

width : 6500 pixels
height : 3250 pixels

Terragen render : about 8 hours. I'm afraid that it will take much more time with the TG2 version, so wait and see...

So how did you make the angle map (the spherical image in your first post)?

Do you mean the "little planet" as preview at the beginning of this thread ? I'm not sure I understood your question. There are many softs to do that. But you can also try with Photoshop (in french : filtre < deformation < coordonnées polaires). My favourite soft is this one :

http://gardengnomesoftware.com/pano2qtvr.php  (it's called "thumbnails"). Really quick and easy.

Yes the "little planet" is what I was referring to, did you first make a skybox though (a skybox consists of 6 images, north, south, east, west, up, down)?

Thanks for the link to the website, I will check it out.

Great work by the way :)

To get nice results, you have to realise a complete 360 x 180° first (not easy at all). Then, you insert your final picture (not necessarily composed of 6 images) in the appropriate menu and let it do (very simple at this step). If your picture is not a complete 360 x 180°, you will have to add some manual work with Photoshop to adjust the photography in the circle.

Just forgot to give an example of a little planet I made with Photoshop only :

http://www.visites-interactives.eu/fr/art-numerique-petit-prince.html

I can remember that I started from a 360 but not a 360 x 180 at this time (2 years ago). So, if you are interested, you should try and imagine another world...

Other little planets can also be seen here : http://www.visites-interactives.eu/fr/art-numerique.html

Now, a third example : mixing 3D and real pictures. This idea came as I was not satisfied with the landscape outside my virtual tour. I created something not so far as reality and added it to my "real" visit.

Hope you will enjoy... (don't forget sound).
