First of all - thanks for release :)

However I cannot celebrate it... yet.
I've downloaded an update thought Beta "Check for updates", uninstalled the old version, installed new one and decided to make a simple scene to test this new TG2 and apparently I can't save .tdg files. Every time when I choose to save it I got an error message:

"The Project file has not been damaged, but any changes have not been saved."

Which results in writing a 0 byte .tgd file.

I've tried reinstalling TG2 together with cleaning the registry with no effect. Any idea what might be causing this strange error?

Tangled-Universe

I never uninstall previous versions because the installer self already does this for me. It also transfers my registration automatically.
However, this probably has nothing to do with your problem. Sounds pretty weird though :(

PorcupineFloyd

It is indeed very strange. And frustrating too :|

Hmm I keep all my old versions, had no trouble in that respect

Strange! Have you tried saving to a different output path? Can you load an old TGD and re-save successfully?

Saving to a different path gives the same result.

I've tried loading an old .tgd and re-saving gives the same error message.

What's worse - rendering leaves me a small, black triangle in random position every time (but the window says that rendering is complete).

Agree just gave it a trial run w/ an old tgd then modified it and saved as,closed it all up reopened the same tgd (modified) w/o a problem.  ;D

To be more specific on a local matter:

Vista x64
Q6600
8GB RAM

TG2 "About" gives me version v2.0 (build 2.0.1.1) and it tells me that it's licensed to me (so it shouldn't be a broken key file or something similar I think).

neuspadrin

my vista 64bit has had no problems...

PorcupineFloyd

This is getting stranger and stranger.

I've tried installing this new version on my laptop (with fresh XP install) and guess what - same problem :|

Maybe it is a problem with key file? However, I'm not getting any key-related errors and "About" windows displays that registration is correct.

I've downloaded the .msi file from the website provided by TG Beta update function.

Hi,

The new version has a safe saving mechanism which has been tested for some time with no issues, but obviously there is something about your setup which is causing problems. If you can email me as much info as possible such as what sort of account you're using ( admin or user ), where you're trying to save the image, an example of the path you're trying to save the image to and anything else which you can think of to do with your file system then that would be great. My email address is:

jomeder@planetside.co.uk

Jo

I have tested this with both a freshly created scene and by loading an old one.

Using save as I can't save my projects to the root of any drive however I can save it inside any folder or multiple, nested folders an any drive.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

I've just sent an e-mail on provided address. I have also noticed that I can save .tgd files in "My Documents" folder but nowhere else. Strange as it appears on XP and Vista.

I'm also experiencing render problems which can be seen on attached pictures.
This is default TG scene rendered with "Quick Render" but with GI changed to 1/2.

EDIT: After checking Mr_Lamppost post I've noticed that .tgd's cannot be saved in the root folder, but can be saved inside any folder. I haven't checked that before as I always save my work files on one drive's root folder.

A screenshot can't help you.  Just contact Planetside to get your licensing straightened out.  This isn't the place to do it.  Send an email to Planetside.
