This is a new render from another POV in my savannah scene. I worked on the colours of the trees (translucency etc.).
I can't figure out what causes these bad black dots in the shadow :o ....??

This is coming along nicely!

Bad black dots - Is soft shadows on?  Is this the one where you need to up your Blur Radius in the Render?  I don't remember.

Nice looking.  Once you get the black dots eliminated, check out putting something in the foreground or making the foreground more interesting some way.  Just my opinion.  This really looks like it's a good one.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

I agree, Calico. This is a bird view though. Maybe I could put a rock in the front from which the 'picture was taken'. Well here comes the next challenge ;)

Here's another render, just to test the tree shader settings.

Nice viewpoint.  Maybe a little more translucency in the leaves...?

Could the deep black ground beneath the trees be a surface shader colour that somehow ties in with the tree population distribution?
Some bits and bobs
The Galileo Fallacy, 'Argumentum ad Galileus':
"They laughed at Galileo. They're laughing at me. Therefore I am the next Galileo."

Nope. Galileo was right for the simpler reason that he was right.

How many populations have you going on here? Have you tried to use a PF on the diffuse colour? I've had problems trying to combine UV and planetary mapping within objects.
