Just playing around with a few things here making a nice simple little scene.

The sky is completely awesome. I'm not so sure about the dune, because it's very hard to convey the inherent fragility of sand: to me, the shape is too sharp, and also the colour of the shadows of the little ridges on the dune too defined. But that is not a criticism of your work, more an observation of the possible limitations of TG2.

Wow - a bit more overhanged and it would make a perfect big wave 8)
Perhaps not what you wanted to hear, but that just came into my mind when I saw this. I agree with domdib, it's very sharp and edgy somehow. But anyway, this looks so great. Creepily great. :D

this looks very promising!

Agreed about teh sky, it's very nice.  Thing is, snad in the desert is alot smoother, so you needed to soften the waves somehow I believe.

Oshyan

Real (Earth) sand should be softer, but whatever this really is, it looks cool. ;D

hi
I recall seeing a documentary about the pyramids in which they talked about how steep sand can be before it collapses...IIRC it was about 51 deg...

hope that helps....

Thanks everyone!  I will see what I can do about the softness, yet still keep the surface granular.

RArcher

Changed things around a fair bit to make it somewhat softer.

It also came to mind that the image might make a great black and white conversion, so I messed around a little further and added a little film grain.  I think it turned out great.
