Not sure what the white "droplets" are on the grass (grass is Walli's).

I like this one; and, would like to suggest you move the tall tree to the left and down the hill somewhat. I think you'd have a better balanced image doing that.

Thanks everyone.  These trees are actually two small painted populations.  I agree about the background.  When I started this, I planned to have more of a tree-shrouded environment, but like this.  Maybe I could add another tree to the left by itself and / or add a little more grass...perhaps getting down lower to the grass blades (like ZAAI999 recommended) would fill up the foreground enough so the background wouldn't compete.

I'll think about these things.  It took about 8 hours to render and I want to add some more ideas to my NWDA entry.

If the Silver Birch was Lightning's, yes.  This was before he sold any, if so...as I remember.

I actually don't mind the birch where it is, as far as my eye wonders, it's the focus. If you move it left, then I'd want to follow down the valley. Depends what you want to work on. I like the way the camera is head height, in an interesting position, on some interesting terrain. What I think could be worked on, is ground detail and variation, for some reason seeing some clumps at regular random intervals, seems a little "just planted" to me.

@MacGyver - Most likely.  I need to work on my NWDA entry tonight and tomorrow.  Then, this.

@Hetzen - Thanks.  I agree with all of your assessments.  The ground needs something interesting and less CG-looking grass.  It's not that the grass is bad, but the way I have the object distributed needs a face lift.

I like the tree the way it is. Jack's birches were very good. I'd suggest rotating the camera up, so the central tree is framed in the centre of the image. You'll lose just a little foreground(meaning your grass will also need a bit less work, like you're planning. ) but gain a nice balance of fore/mid/distance, all together.

Needs some clouds if you open the sky up a bit more!

Bash on with this, man and, keep us posted, it holds promise.
