G'day,
I just bought and installed 2 Gigs of 'ocZ High Performance DDR2 Memory' RAM to upgrade it from 876 Megs to now 2.87 Gigs.

My Virtual Memory is set to Min: 4413 MB and Max: 10752 MB

I've even edited the boot loader switch to 2.3 GB

I'm running the following system:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional V.2002 Service Pack 3
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.11 GHz, 2.87 GB of RAM

My dilema is that when I went to benchmark the new RAM while rendering the same frame in Terragen 2 I have better results with the 870 Megs of RAM than I do with the 2.87 Gigs of RAM (2:18 min. vs 2:22 min.)

????????

I must be missing something.
Any help would be appreciated.

More RAM does not mean you will increase render speed.  More RAM for the most part just means you can build and render more complicated and object heavy scenes.

Thats a very small time difference, and most likely accounts for various background processes delaying render some here and there.  But as RArcher pointed out, RAM allows you to use more models and higher quality settings, CPU is what will really speed your renders up.
