Hi, guys

finally some success with the fake stones - thanks to those who
provided insight and help - phylloxers, goms, daSucka and neuspadrin. trying to work it into a mountain scene

I would say that this is pretty good. I don't think I could do better.
Try using a paint shader to make a shore line. I think it might make a good place for some bigger stones and some different foliage.

thanks - good idea
but not really sure how to do - have only used shader for populations - would i simply cover the area i want and then add a layer there

Really nice stones and lighting looks pretty natural, maybe the larger stones are a little too uniform in their distribution across the area. I'd be proud of this one.

I really like the water and lighting here :)

Maybe flattening the large rocks would help. Also for the population, you can use the Blend by Shader option. Say you have a Sand surface layer with a child surface layer of the sand. (this gives you great control of the color and displacement. By using the coverage slider, it can be reduced from 1.) You can use the Blend by Shader function by selecting the child layer. This would break up the uniformity of the population.
