That's an incredibly stunning render there. Faultless in terms of colours and tones of the textures and shadows. What does, and I'm not going to say spoil it because it doesn't really, shows up is the softness of your terrain, which looks like a draped piece of cloth. Could I make a suggestion of using a colour adjusted Perlin Ridge noise with a negative displacement, to put some cracks into those rock structures.

How long did it take to render?

inkydigit

I will have to render this in tg 2, this was rendered in the original terragen. thanks for your input though!

I have forgoten how nice the water was in tg0.9! Really nice pic :)

24 hours on my imac 24"..2.4 core 2 duo, 3gb ram...ultra AA and extra Blended Detail!

I just love the water, great. One of the first waters I see that doesn't yell "CGI".

Phylloxera

It is superb but it is TG 0.9, at least it seems to me; this explaining that! Really very succeeded this image! TG 0.9 did not die the proof!

Henry Blewer

I would like to see this done with T2. This is great. What could this be with the new tools?

Forget Tuesday; It's just Monday spelled with a T

An excellent  T09.xxx render, Inky. I noticed you mentioned you had the EBD checked. I discovered early doors that leaving it unchecked dramatically reduces the render times while not visibly diminishing the quality of still images. The hint/tag for the EBD says something about "recommended for animations to reduce popping." I reckon you could have rendered this in less than half the time by leaving the EBD unchecked, and not noticed any deterioration in render quality.

I hope I realise I don't exist before I apparently die.

Lovely render indeed. I really like the bluish haze in the background.
The water is just awesome, often I like TG0.9x's water more than TG2's.
Gonna look for the terrain, looks very nice :)

agree Martin, the TG0.9 water was very good !
there is something about it that was very very god lookin' !

Tangled-Universe

Hey Jason, where did you find that terrain? It seems I can't find it anywhere on christian's site?

@ Seth: the noise-function of TG2's water is very ridged and noisy. It's very difficult to get that nice and calm water with small scales which you can easily get with TG0.9x imo.
