very nice start!
How does it look when you use a higher density for the trees and then use a noise to breakup the distribution? At the moment the trees look "unrelated" to each other.

I haven't worked much on the trees yet. I was looking for scale for them. I do want to add more, and have them cluster in groups.

Just to test the light, try a sun position from over the left shoulder and see if you can get more light on the trees. And, possibly try some cloud reseeding. It appears the trees are in the shade.

The finished render at 1280 x 600. Detail 0.75, AA 4, and Super Sample Prepass. I may do another with deeper looking snow on the mountain tops.

Here is the image with filters added using Corel Paint X2. I intended all along to do this, but I've been working on my Blender object import tutorial. It's coming along... I keep learning more, so I have been including the new knowledge.
