attached a two mesa's with basically the same pov the only difference is the settings of the two pf shaders connected to the redirect shader, in mesa a the noise of one at x, z is -15  and 10 with perlin bellows used in both. in mesa b (my favorite) the setting is 1 and 10, with the first or x at 1 and z set at 10. also
x is using perlin for noise and z perlin bellows.  I am still amazed at what this program has to offer, and what you can discover is you try hard enough. it was comments by TU and Njeneb in different therads  which started me playing with the redirect shader. still trying to set the most natural looking strata displacements - almost a fixation. thanks for the comments everyone.

Very nice. Now to get the overhangs down and you'll be there. I have been using pancaked fake stones, just before the redirect shader. The scale can be determined by using the measure tool.

pancaked fake stone shaders - do you mean just stacked and should i use a distro shader, basically where do i place the  fs

thanks

I just add the fake stones, then go to the shape tab of the fake stone input window and increase the pancake effect. A distribution shader or power fractal can be used for masking, but I never use this.
