Ok I named it NewGlobe on Flickr, but it's been there for sometime. I was chatting with FrankB (fbde) on the NWDA chat. I asked him how to get more realism. He suggested pushing the AA to 10 or 11. This is the result.

it definitely helped (a lot) with the realism on the vegetation, Henry. I think this is your best render so far.
The clouds are not ideal yet, but the rest came out quite nicely. What do you think yourself of the result?

surreal, but I like that...spotted at flickr earlier!

The atmosphere needed more work. The clouds are too solid for one thing. A population on the mountain of pines would have helped. I made the yellow meridians on the globe too bright yellow, but I will add a reflection shader which may take care of that. I think increasing the haze will help out. Any thing to add Frank?

I had to go to work, so I hit the render button. It took about 28 hours to render.

Strong concept with the globe I think... tells a story :)

The picture looks like a fantasy game (MYST?). About sky - it looks like a flat plane. But overall - great job!
