I am experiencing a kind of block in my TGing... I do a massive number of crappy renders these weeks...
anyway, that one might need to be post.
thanks for viewing full size, guys :)

Crappy render my left ear! The reflection in the water is superb!

pfrancke

my sentiments too.  No good renders from me, but that is normal.  I really like this one.

I agree about the reflection - I'd say it's the outstanding feature, so you might want to re-compose slightly to give it more prominence. Somehow, I'm struggling with the overhang shape which is quite close to the centre of the image and so draws the eye. The clouds are also nice, but the lens flare is a bit distracting.

I love the transitions between the lighting - you and Ryan should detail some of your methodologies when you're lighting your scenes.

Wish my renders were this "crappy."  Nice work!  The lighting is terrific!

I don't think the lens flare adds anything to this. Everything else is great.

Very artistic render, my compliments! I also like the lighting. Is that PS? I did something like this with an extra blurred layer set to bleach. I agree about getting rid of the flare, and I would add a distant very vague stripe of an island to get more depth in the left top light area. I might adopt the presentation with the black bands I've noticed a couple of times, it's very sophisticated, and makes it more than 'just a render'.

ThinkPink

if this is a "crappy render" ..... I don't want to know, what my renders are .... :-\
This one looks great ....!!!

FrankB

i think this is pretty cool, Franck :)

No words, masterpiece! Thank you, Seth!

Tangled-Universe

Hey Franck, not bad at all dude :) The lens flare is a bit too much and distracting.
Seems you're slowly losing your block though ;)

Cheers,
Martin

yeah good render...
agree with Tangled-Universe about the lens flare.
if you really want to use one my advice will be to  not use plugin for it...a lot of them even the better one looks always too digital, too geometric.
Try to use a real lens flare instead (google is your friend, flicker too) and composite it in screen or add transfert mode.
the result will be better.
