I have dutifully book marked the planet maps ..... (how do we use them?)   :-\  (We need a dorky icon for me to use ....)

The Geostation

I haven't tried it, but there might be a way of converting these jpegs into heightfield maps.   Possibly via a tool on the Internet, you might need to find two consecutive conversion tools to do this.

Also they may have to be used for long distance.

Works fine here with IE6

Earth's resolutions are a lot lower than at the site I've been linking here a few posts ago, but this site also has nice planet maps of the other planets from our solar system  :)
