Isometric or Dimetric view?

Where true orthographic views aren't working, you can probably approximate one by using a very narrow field of view and moving the camera further away. A FOV of 1 degree looking down on a typical landscape should be virtually indistinguishable from an orthographic view. I suppose it depends how accurate it needs to be. You might be able to go much smaller with your angles, but I would be careful in case other bugs crop up - such narrow FOV values aren't tested very often.

Just because milk is white doesn't mean that clouds are made of milk.

Thanks. I'll try that. Unfortunately, I need to get a 10x10 km area into an isometric view for a map. At 1° I'll have to be outside the atmosphere. But since I don't render that anyways, it just might work. :-)
