My latest render took 30hrs 57mins  (PP auto leveled + slight curve adjustment)
Here is the link to the file, i have included a tgd with objects "pine trees free from xfrogs, and ketch" and a version with only trees. and for anyone who just likes the clouds there is a tgc clip of the clouds+atmosphere zip file 13Kb

the ketch is by Singing Bridge from www.turbosquid.com

Very nice!  Someone over at Ashundar was working on making wakes a while ago, and he got pretty far with it.  I like the trees.  How large was your population?

a few 100000 trees i think, size was about 15000x15000

That picture was worth every second of the 30 hours - it is amazing. A wake would be a nice finishing touch...

Gday

Try this link to Ashundar for wake - thanks to Ogre

The message at the top of page has faulty links but go down the page and you will find a link that works.

Now that looks good! I can't wait to see the finished product...

Nice, how did you get the wake like that?

Regards,

Will
The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

Looks good but It appears you may need to lean the wakes in the direction away from the center. It seems thy are leaning to the center.

Here is the inital tgd file

I haven't posted the wreck model. That was acquired at www.planit3d.com

@king...very nice work!
Out of curiosity...what are your machine specs?
31hrs for an 800X450 gives me about 41 hrs for an 800x600 with less than a third water.....so, the 70 hrs for my 800x600 iceberg render on my "slow" 2.2ghz P4 sounds reasonable then.

king_tiger_666

P4 2.8ghz northwood 1gb ram..

high cloud samples + atmosphere really does give a render time hit.. also having a lot of vegetation seems to bog my pc down so its all a combo i really need another 512 or a 1gb ram :(.... got a linky to your renders you've done? out of interest

@king;
here you go http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?username=gradient

Like I said...I've pretty much given up on serious TG2 renders until I see some optimization.

king_tiger_666

Ok, here is the final render 22hrs in the making, the next version of my wake will improve the foam density and will be a more complex texture.
the zip file contains 2 versions of the wake textures + tgd file the 3dmodel is downloaded free from www.gunpoint-3d.com and converted into obj format in wings3d
