I am trying to use a simple lwo for a tent but can't get it textured. The only way I can get a colour on it is to use a constant shader but that just gives it flat shading with no variation on the various sides ie a darker colour on the sides facing away from the light source. The node for the lwo has no input so how do I apply a shader to it?

I must have been doing somthing wrong as it seems to be working now using a surface layer. However every time I add a LWO reader the file requester does not show and I get an error. I can then load the object from the filename field in the panel.

Download a program called PoseRay. It can set the image maps up correctly and export the file as a Wavefront obj file. obj files work better in Terragen 2. Then use the obj object importer. There are many posts on this subject; too many to list. It will take some time, but check out the search in the forum discussion. I found that by using it, it gets easier to find things.

Thanks, I have often wondered what people were talking about PoseRay, I will have a look.

Here's a reply to a thread discussion on PoseRay. I thnk it is the one I was looking for earlier.

Yes, Poseray is the way to go, especially if you use the default LW file structure and want to keep some separation between your LW and TG content.  You can point Poseray to your Lightwave image folder(s) and export your model along with the texture images to a Terragen folder for rendering.  Poseray can import LWO and export as an OBJ, which seems to be the best, at least for me (you'll probably want to convert your OBJ models to TGO (Terragen Object) format  when you are satisfied with the model.

I think you will find the Lightwave/Poseray/Terragen workflow to be pretty efficient.

I save my obj files as tgo files. It makes it easier to reuse them or let someone else use them.
