In the Coldness of Space
February 19, 2010, 08:15:14 AM
I got inspired by some vue renders few days ago and wanted to make something that had rockpopulations. FrankB had made this ring planet concept before and was kind enough to share the clipfile, so thanks goes to him for that idea. Also the thread about procedural craters helped on the planet creation. Also I painted the background and retouched the planet color a bit.

Sweet! It might benefit with some variation in the rock sizes for the ring, but beyond that it's superb!

Could I see a tgc for the planet surfacing?
They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?

Very nice, Freelancah. The ring is top notch work, very cool.
And thanks for the ship model over there <<
I think I have somewhere nice to put it that I've been kicking around for months.
Cheers!

Thanks guys! I had lots of fun doing this one.
Oh yeah Dandel0 I hope you submit it to DA then so I can see it too
TheBlackHole: What part of the planet terrain are you wondering about? It's not very complex in terms of shaders. The big crater is just a crater shader with 2x power fractal added thru redirect shader.

I'm talking about the whole planet.
