Saving shader externally

I'm new to terragen 2, and I've looked for an answer to this question but haven't found it. My apologies if I'm asking something ridiculously simple.

I made a surface layer with a bunch of child layers that just adds contour lines to anything I add it over. Is there any way to save that surface layer shader, with all the children, so that I can pull it into any terrain I'm working on.

its alright, i probadly didn't know how either when i first started using terragen 2

select your shaders (nodes) and save them as a clip file (tgc), right click and select Save As Clip File on the contextual menu.

Yes; while in the node view, click on (while holding down the shift key) each node you want to save to highlight them - then, right click on one of them. You will get a list appear. Select 'Save as a clip file'. Give it a name and save it to your clip file folder. Then, in the future, just go to file> insert a clip file; and, it will appear in the node view. Then, connect to where you want it.

1.  In the node network screen, right click, select Create Other --> Group.  
2.  Move the Group box under your shader nodes, stretch it to fit.  Click the name bar part of it to select.  Name it what you like.
3.  Right click and from the menu that appears select Capture Nodes.  Now when you move the box all the nodes move with it.  You can also select it and Release Nodes to do the opposite.
4.  Right click again on it and select Save Nodes as Clip File.

Thanks! I tried saving the parent node as a clip file but when I brought it back it didn't have any of the child layers. This explains it. I appreciate the help.
