That looks quite nice! I hope we'll be able to see it in even higher quality and high def. What video codec are you using? h.264 should be able to give you excellent quality at less than 500MB in HD, and Vimeo should accept it in e.g. MP4.

Also, how did you create the camera path?

- Oshyan

Seth

i don't have h.264 in the compression option of virtualdub... and i will try another solution as soon as i find one to upload it better quality.
the camera path (i don't like the way it is but well i didn't have much choice about it) was created in TG2. :)

This might work: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/x264_video_codec.htm You can also do encoding through FFDshow if you have it, it has h.264/MPEG4. Also you could install K-Lite Codec Pack Full: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite-Codec-Pack-Full/1094057842/3

Seth

i installed K-lite yesterday, but i'll try your links tonight after job :) thanks

I downloaded your video. It plays back very nicely from a harddrive. I would like  to tell you this is really a fantastic animation.  8) You have done a great job. The only thing which would make it better are many more frames to slow it down. I stepped through it also in Blender; nice work with the lighting!

What a beautiful animation, I only wish the plants would slightly wave in the breeze  :) How long did it take to render?

One advise:

Be careful with K-Lite, though. There are many K-Lite packages out there and some contain adware / malware. Also the package distributes codecs for free that aren't free at all (I know that it's stated otherwise in the readme file).

Oshyan

As far as I know newer versions of K-lite no longer distribute non-free codecs. As long as you get it from a reputable source, e.g. Fileforum.com, there should be no problems.

Bluestorm

Really? Good to know :). I stopped using the K-Lite pack last year when I came across some codecs that were originally meant to be purchased. It's good that this has been fixed now :)

Oshyan

As far as I know it has, but let me know if that's not the case!

Any luck with recompression Seth?
