WIP. I have some weird displacement issues at the bottom of the image. This test image was rendered with 0.6 quality, and Anti-Alias set to 3.

I can imagine myself standing in the middle yelling and my voice echoing from all sides......

A few refinements and this could be really excellent Henry. Finally you are getting the LIGHT!

I ran into some difficulties with the displacements. I'll get back to it tomorrow (11/27/2010). I have another render cooking now which is turning out well.
I bought FrankB's atmosphere pack at NWDA. It gave me some direction in the lighting/atmosphere settings.

Looking good Henry; maybe a re-positioning of the sun more to the left would put more light on the distant terrain to reveal more details. And, maybe reducing the gamma down to 1.9 would help a bit.

This is a rework using some of the new features available in the new release. The render speed really has been increased! This was rendered with render detail of 1 and AA 8. It only took a little over 5 hours on my Pentium 4 HT. The earlier version in this post took between 12 and 16 hours. (I did not note the render time)
Once again I am floored with the power of this program. This image uses the localized clouds, and the new raytraced atmosphere (21 samples for the atmosphere quality!). 16 samples would have been enough I think.

I much prefer the lighting and tone on this one. Could you post one that has less (much
) jpg down sampling. Its particularly noticeable where the edge between the sky and the mountain and treetops is blurred out.
Lovin' the new features too

I uploaded the image onto Flickr. They do their own thing with the conversion. Perhaps Deviant Art may be better...

Thankyou quite a bit better, Flicker do seem to impose their own compression, probably better suited to snaps of the kids by the pool lol
