Xfrog trees: realistic distribution?

When you are using Xfrog trees, how do you distribute them?

I just put values I think they should be right...but in fact I have no idea of the result
The object is "CL02a_Grand_Fir.tgo"
Minimum scale: 0.8
Maximum scale: 1.2
Object spacing: 12m
Spacing variation: 1m
Then I added a distribution shader as density shader, with a coverage of 0.5. Fractal breakup scales are 50, 1000, 1. Maximum slope angle is 60°, Max slope fuzzy zone 10.

Are my values correct?
More generally, how do you decide of your population parameters compared to the size of the individual object?

well, every tree has a different size, and natural distribution... so really it just falls down to getting what is right on a per tree basis, so quite impossible to give the "heres the definite values".

Neuspadrin is exactly correct.  It completely depends on the type of tree.  A big ancient oak generally can have more than 20m between it and the next one since they cover such a wide area, while some birch trees grow in groves where the trees are much less than 0.5m apart.  Really the only way to know is to do a bit of research and look at some photos online to make a better guess as to how to set up each population.
