Inspired by Hannes post http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,22727.0.html
I used the grains of sand that Hannes made but I had to disable the very high Translucancy since this effectively killed the sand grains ability to recieve shadows. Trees and veg by me and speedtree, figures by Daz.
Quite a lot of post processing, I wanted a filmic look but I've included the unprocessed version for comparrison.
cheers
Richard
here's the un-processed one ...
This is very nice render. Great mood! Well done! 8)
Nice render Richard.
I like both images. I just think the postworked one is a little too dark on the ground regarding to the desert theme.
Cool Richard!!!!!
Yes, I can imagine, that the translucency is way too high, when the sunlight is directly from that position. It's great to see the grains in use!
I prefer the un post ed one myself but the post one has the feel you were aiming at. The original looks to me more photographic.
Nice, and good to see some work from you again.
I prefer the unprocessed one too, but it's a matter of taste. The footprints are a nice addition.
Very nice - great sand and mood. I have to vote for the unprocessed one too!
Both very beautiful and somehow romatic!
I like them both. Very well done!
like the top one. great image
Beautiful composition. Realistic lens flare on post process. I tried an into the sun shot once and got such a flare. Good work on both!
Very nice. However, it's physically impossible for the lens flare streaks to be more sharply focused than the light source that's creating them, so that would be the thing I'd want to change next.
Matt
Is there a floating tuft on the right?
In retrospect I see some very thin white lines in the sky emanating from the sun. What are they?
The lens flare is done in post so good call about the focus, hmm is the light source creating the lens flare or the lens looking at the light source ... I shall investigate further.
The grass clump does look like its floating I agree. I think it's because the sand grains spec and translucancy settings are stopping them recieving shadows propperly.

I think they're the product of the added lens flare if it's in the post processed on Ulco
No doubt. I can't imagine TG doing that.
lovely, beautiful implementation of these little gems... a great composition and concept too!
preferred the raw version.
:)
