Title: 'Parts' list difficult to read
Post by: choronr on November 01, 2010, 01:38:16 AM
I'm trying to read a list of Parts of a model I wish to revise. I need to modify only three of the items; but, they are impossible to read and select. Any help here?

That is one long list of parts! I think that I would restructure this so he parts of the various objects are in their own node groups.

I think Bob also means that there's no way yet to check which parts-shader represents which part of the model, other than giving it a bright colour and make preview renders?

If the list is full of un-recognisable names try loading the model into Poseray (http://mysite.verizon.net/sfg0000/), you can rename all your textures to something much more usable to your way of working. You don't need the original package the model was made in and its FREE :)

PS: A thought: I find that if I'm using a laptop touch pad navigation is difficult in both the pre-view window and the node window. At least the pre view window has the camera controls but there's no easy DEFAULT option for navigating the node window other than dragging/scroling (the default Zoom is Alt+MMB+Drag or Click+MMW ). To get round this limitation Planetside have helpfully given us the possibility of changing the bindings on the keyboard mapping. To do this go to Edit>Preferences>Input Settings> and change the Input Pre-sets from the default "Universal" to "Custom" and then click on Customise Bindings. You can then set your keyboard to perform mouse and other custom functions. Personally I've set zoom in to be Shift+↑ and zoom out to be Shift+↓

Or rename the parts in Blender, but PoseRay will keep the UV maps correct.

The default bindings for zoom include Alt-Shift-LMB, which can be used on a laptop.

Zoom: Alt-Shift-LMB (and drag) or Alt-MMB (and drag)
Zoom in: MW down
Zoom out: MW up

These are included in the 'Universal' preset, and should also be the default settings if you choose Custom Bindings, as far as I am aware.
