Here is a short comp of three animations on the theme of African dawn.
They all use the same basic setup but with different animation settings.
The most complex is the second one where the river water, floating leaves and fog are all animated.
For some reason the compression is a bit harsh, not quite sure what's gone on there.

Lots of fun lighting to look at here. Love it.
Nice and moody. Beautiful light, and no flickering as far as I can see. One thing that struck me; the leaves on the water are all evenly spread. I would have thought they would have 'gathered' in clumps, sticking together by currents and adhesion. And I don't see the animation in them, probably because the camera is moving too. But a really great job!
Agree with Ulco. All in all a beautiful animation! Good job!
Lovely! What compositer for animation frames? Smooth! :)
Yes indeed, nice and moody, that's what it is.
Thanks guys :)
FYI the compositor is just After Effects with frame blending on.
The frames were rendered at pretty low detail levels of 0.4 and AA of 4. I've "only" got two computers so I try to set up my animations to render over a weekend so some compromises end up having to be made.
These are lovely. If you want some help rendering this at higher quality, let me know...

Good attention to fluid dynamics, Ulco. ;) Totally missed that and totally agree.
Aww I feel bad now :( ... Haha no you're right.
There is some movement although it is extremely subtle and the water movement is very slow too. The trouble is that previewing such slow and subtle movements/animations is next to impossible to do without doing a full animation and it's so easy to go over the top.
Fluid dynamics would be great but until someone creates a FD solver we will just have to fake it.
Thought I'd update this thread with the improved, higher detail version rendered in collaboration with Planetside and Pixel Plow:

Super! I especially liked that swoop across the river.
It is always great to get ongoing feedback and critique in a project. A second pair of eyes REALLY helps. Oshyan did a great job as Art Director :D
By the way is their a way to set the default resolution of the embedded youtube video to 1080p. After all that work this seems very blurry ...
Outstanding work! This just became my go-to link when people ask about Terragen. :)
Unfortunately Youtube no longer lets you specify the resolution in links, as far as I know. Used to be able to do that and a lot more with various link/embed flags but they've been cutting down on customization over time. Probably for more ad revenue. :P

Nice video :)
Outstanding and unbelievable beautiful! A big Like from me! :)
Beautiful!!!!
It really makes a difference if you click on Youtube and set it to 1080. A pity that you can't do that directly.
lovely job,mate !
BEAUTIFUL WORK!!
