New Blender Beta release 8)

Have you played with this yet?
One of the things I like about the new update is the way you can connect up external renderers so that they work just like were built straight into Blender. This means you can use Luxrender (http://www.luxrender.net/forum/gallery2.php) just like it was Blenders own internal renderer.
Yes, I have only crashed it once. Much better than the previous release.
I can't deny that blender is feature packed, though I saw 52 pages of keyboard shortcuts for it the other day and wondered how practical that was for workflow.
It's not bad after you get used to it. The only flaw I still find is the lack of using real measurements. Blender Units are not good for most of the things I am trying to do.
I thought 1 unit was 1 TG metre?
No, there is no real world scaling in Blender. You can scale the object to the proper size after it is imported.
After you run with it for awhile, you'll probably find the keyboard shortcuts come naturally.
