Wow, that's impressive!  I wonder if studios will start using models instead of actors when these things become possible on a large scale.

The replacement of real actors by 3D models has been discussed for years and years, but even the best CG human figures still don't convince even average people. I think there are a lot of subtleties in our perception of such familiar things and it's very hard to account for it all. It may be a while yet before this is even feasible, and whether it will happen even then is questionable.

I think there would be a strong argument for keeping real actors so that the studios and the companies surrounding showbiz could parade their stars around.

The best argument I've heard to dissuade the complete elimination of live actors is the personalities.  It's very difficult in CG to imitate life.
