Title: Adding a single mountain with heightfields
Post by: FrankB on July 09, 2007, 08:50:17 AM
Not rocket science, but someone had asked me how to add a single mountain somewhere on a current heigthfield.

Here's a clip file with which you can generate and position a single mountain within an existing heightfield.
Simple delete your existing "Load heightfield" + "Heightfield Shader", load the clip file and plug the merge shader into your compute terrain node.
The left "generate heightfield" node is the default, 10000 meter terrain generator, and the heightfield to the right is the single mountain. Position your mountain by adjusting the xz coordinates in the right hand side heightfield shader.

Make sure you hit "generate" in both heightfield generators.

Regards,
Frank

You're welcome. Did it work for you?

It's my next project Frank. Another chance to compare created mountains to dems of real mountains (see my Mount Hood for comparison example).

Kevin.
