I love the clouds and the planets, but it looks like the sunlight is shining through the terrain. Just a bug I think anyways
Those pictures are amazing. It's a shame that the 'sunlight-shines-through-terrain' bug has spoiled them a bit...
i love the cloud shapes. I'd like to see them rendered a bit thicker.

ya I thought of fixing that in photoshop but then I decided to leave it as a pure TG2 render...
I like the rainbow like thing in the secound, man that must be a huge planet (or really really close close).
Regards,
Will
ya it is really really huge and also really close....and it is blocking most of the light from sun other wise it would turn out same colors as the brighter render....
I wonder if you put it at the bottom if you could get an impression of a rainbow going arcoss water or somthing.
Regards,
Will
yea..nice idea...will try it out...
Yeah that's a really good idea Will, would like to see that being worked out.
Currently I have one render cooking (going to post it on this forum within 6 - 8 hours) and I'm at work, so I can't experiment for now.
I like the first one the most, but in the last one the rainbow effect really adds something. I like the clouds, they look a bit surrealistic (???), but they are very cool!
Martin
here is something that took longer to render than I thought....

well it was worth it in my opinion, great effect.

Will
now I am gonna try the rainbow thing.... :)
ok...here it is..first try....
nice, very convicing.

Will
here is the rainbow effort (Better than the other one) only if I could find a way to put in more than 2 colors in the atmosphere gradient
A rainbow never apears looking into the sun ;) The only thing you could see are halo's.
ya...I thought of that too....still I decided to give it a go....u never know how it will turn out....anyway....it still looks good....
I think the effect is nice.
regards,
Will
Take two suns.
One behind the viewer - for shadows, etc. the other one for the halo/rainbow with no visible disc and only effecting atmospheres 8)
Volker
thought about that but woun't the secound effect how the halo looks ?
regards,
WIll
I would give it a try anyways. If you positioned them cleverly and made the one behind the camera relatively weak, I think it would work.
How can I make the sun only affect the atomosphere and not anything else???
oh...by the way....here is TGD if anyone wants to try....
Attached is a screenshot with the sun settings
Volker
Hey Volker...just a question...why would I need secong sun...before you said put one sun behind camera for shadows...what shadows??
As far as I know rainbow doesnt have shadows
Well, you have a sun behind the planet for creating the 'rainbow'. As 3D-Guy mentioned, there is no rainbow when lookin ginto the sun - the has to be behind the viewer.
Therefore you should place an invisible sun behind the planet for the rainbow-effect. The other sun is - for realistic results - behind the camera.
