Hi!
I am doing a quick R&D on geospatial data workflow inside Terragen and would welcome some tips/links to resources on what is the fastest way to acquire data. I have skimmed several tutorials on that for TGN, played with GIS websites, etc... I am a total newbie in that area, so sorry if my questions will seem naive. My questions are these:
1. MULTIPLE DEMS (selected region)
a) What is the most fuss-free approach to getting multiple seamless DEMs inside TGN (seamless.usgs.gov is unavailable).
b) I have played with https://viewer.nationalmap.gov. I can download chosen heightfield data "products" for the rectangle I select. What about color data matching those heightfields? (same cropping of files)?
c) I have seen Global Mapper used for certain operations, like pulling data or mapping conversions. The best free alternative seems to be QGIS. Or am I wrong here?
2. FULL EARTH COVERAGE
a) should I pull Earth imagery from NASA or is there a better resource?
b) what is the most detailed resource for this task (free) ?
Thank you in advance!
Absolutely I am not an expert, what about
USGS.gov (http://usgs.gov)

terrain.party has really low res terrains imo, but regardless, offer a extremely straight forward process to concept stuff. The elevation data in WA doesn't seem to strip trees either, so in logging areas, creating terraced grounds that don't exist. Lol

Wow, that's a lot of resources, some of them I know, but most are new ones to visit. Thank you very much!
