why not??....
thanx for the model....
*EDIT*
thats pretty heavy model man....very detailed...thanx
my isp uses a proxy so I get a exceeded quota even though I don't use rapidshare lol
Cool! I've downloaded it but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Did you do it with Arbaro? I've been messing with a lodgepole pine design there - should look pretty good in western North America-ish images.
You might want to consider having OB put it up on Ashundar, then king_tiger_666 and others will be able to get at it.
Hey,
thanks for the file! ;D

Hey,
thanks for the file! ;D
A BIG file ;D btw what did you used to make the tree?
Thanks fmtoffolo very much. :D
Thanks for sharing! If you could submit it to Ashundar as a model, that would be great. I could even put it up on the server in a few days to provide a more permanent hosting solution.
i can create a torrent for the the file and post it here so you can share it through p2p
actually, we can do that with all the heavy models we want to share...we would be saving some bandwidth for the guys with the sites and also avoiding the long upload times(at least me,,my upload is 128 kbps,,,it takes ages)

What is the size limit to the files we can upload at Ashundar? I also have a couple of models that could be of use to some but they are high detail and quite large.
One is the Century plant that I created and used on my image called "The Ark" http://www.terranuts.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=26092&ppuser=2944
it is 12 meg zipped.
The others is a pine tree as seen in my image "Mountain Meadows" http://www.terranuts.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=25958&ppuser=2944
It is 56 meg in the zip format and 32 meg in the .7z format. (the .tgo file is 153 meg)
sonshine777, that pine tree model looks great:D....
Hi, fmtoffolo -
Are you sure the .rar package isn't missing a texture? (Or did my download get corrupted somehow?) The .tgo is referencing a 'texture_bark.jpg' for it's branch shader, but the only image in the package is 'texture_bark2.jpg', used by the bark shader. Had you re-assigned both shaders to the same image, or is the image missing?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, if it is indeed missing, what with the painful upload times and all.
:)
oh, yeah, a think i uploaded an old version...but i just use the same texture, cause it works for the main trunk, and also for the little branches were texture is not very important....
so just use the same texture for all the "wood" parts of the pine...they look fine
That's what I did for my first test render. It looks really good.
Very nice pine, What type of pine is it.

I'm looking for a place, :) the post was a question for old_blaggard as to how big the uploads can be to Ashundar.
you can use megaupload or rapidshare
there are lots of other free file hosting services
We can host pretty much any size file at Ashundar. Upload is restricted for general users but an Administrator can just upload the version you have already provided to our file area and link it to your file post. So go ahead and submit a new file (go to the Files->Objects area and Submit New Page Here at the top), put in a description, and we'll setup the download link before we approve it for public download.

I will try to get them submitted tonight (if I get the repairs on my Subaru done ;D).
i uploaded a new tree
the link is in my blog http://terragenfmtoffolo.blogspot.com
its only 6mb .rar. Its all procedural, so it has no textures. It god for wide shots. i don't recomend it for close ups..
Thanks Man!
someone uploaded the first file to www.illhostit.com for me so i could download it they host up to 500mb files and quick downloads too:D
http://illhostit.com/files/c7c45367f0ea2b95000c952963c3ba87/pine.rar
works for those who cannot use rapidshare like me ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hey guys, sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I'm really busy right now, but I'll try to work some of the models previously mentioned here over to Ashundar. As Oshyan said, we can host a lot of stuff, so don't be afraid to share :).
Awesome pine tree model!
Some questions:
What program did you use to build the pine tree model? Xfrog?
I've had Xfrog for a while but I've never been able to model a decent conifer with 3d needles like yours.
Care to post a tutorial on how the tree was modeled?
major thanks for the model!
