Title: surface shader covers reflection even if disabled
Post by: Dune on May 10, 2018, 02:17:46 AM
As the title says; this is something I don't understand. Even if a surface shader has no color whatsoever, and all children are disabled (sounds terrible  :P) the reflection is taken out in both preview and render. Can anyone explain this?
When I make it a direct line, it does work properly.

I tried to replicate a very simple version of your setup and can confirm this. Only if you disconnect the (disabled) child layers the reflection is back.
Of course you can create the effect you're after the way you finally did, but I have no idea why only the reflection is covered. The colours below are still there. ??? ??? ???

Thanks. I know ways around it, but it's the principle that eludes me. I hope someone knowledgable will chime in  ;)

I think it should work the way you expected it to work, so there is a bug here that I didn't know about.

Okay, I'll file a bug report. Thanks Matt.
