Title: Population export via micro exporter
Post by: digitalguru on January 17, 2019, 05:00:50 PM
I hadn't tried it before, but in this post, but Oshyan mentions that it could be done by turning off Raytrace objects in the renderer:

Just tried this in TG 4 (4.3.18) and TG 3 also - does this not work anymore?

As far as I know it still should work, keeping in mind it exports the full geo of the population/objects and not population positions or anything. Ensure you are not using Defer All though (and thus not the path tracer).

Yes it does, maybe it was because I'd inserted a clip file with an ortho camera / micro exporter I had set up before, recreating the whole thing from scratch works

That shouldn't matter. "Defer all shading" changes the shading method but it still renders micropolygons.

Good to have that clarified, thanks.
