... fields, baby.
Nice sense of space. I'm guessing that's your cumulus humilis hovering above the fields? The only thing that jars a little is what seems to be a population of trees to the far right. If these really were agricultural fields, wouldn't they be neatly contained beyond a fence or ditch?
As domdib says : great sense of space ;-) And very nice clouds, too...Maybe their bases are too flat, but it's a little detail !
Wow! This looks impressive... 8)
Nice work.
Thanks guys... I have kept playing with the scene in the meantime, but nothing to show yet.
Regards,
Frank
I like it very much. Looks very natural.
Agree with Hannes.
I also love the blue of the sky!
This reminds me in some way of some plowed fields I've seen before. Nice sky.
Thanks - I'm working on giving the ground more details. I have a reference photo for that, and man, this is more complicated than I thought in the first place.
The reference photo also has some tractor tracks crossing, and I find it not so easy to replicate them in a procedural way. I have also improved the clouds a little further. Maybe tomorrow I have another iteration for you to see.
Cheers,
Frank

I was just about to add a critique about a little bit of lack of details in the ground. Looking forward to see where you come up with.
I know it can be quite hard :)
The sense of scale is very nice in this image and the masking for the plants is very nicely done!
Martin
ok, here comes V2...
Awesome man, really like the way the foreground cloud turned out. The shape at the edges is good and the lighting is just right.
The rows of crops are more convincing now, looks good! I can just see that the hill in the background is covered in trees. Maybe you could render a seperate crop of that area at higher detail to get that a bit clearer. However, they are in the distance, so they may not be too detailed as well...dilemma's :)
Those clouds are the dogs bollocks.
John
much much better !
very good render.
Even if i am not a big fan of very contrasted renders, this one is really good :)
Much better.
Excellent image and realistic clouds! I agree about maybe re-rendering the woods part in the distance though.
This has the feel of the wide open spaces. Tis a beauty Frank!
Thank you :-)

No, this is good as is and as it can get. A tree at this distance is barely larger than 1 pixel, and this has already been rendered with quality 1.
It also looks quite like it on my reference photo. To have more detail than that, I would have to bring it much closer.
Cheers,
Frank

Sounds reasonable, never mind :)
The clouds are great. However, I prefer the more subdued colour the fields had in the first image.

More like this: ?
Fantastic. The last one is perfect! I can almost smell the air.
Thanks Hannes :-)
the last version is really the same render with slightly different curves applied.
Cheers;
Frank
Yes, more like that ;) But is still prefer the original :-\ There's something also about the displacements on the ground that is more realistic. But anyway, both are great renders.
I know what you mean, but it's hard to put your finger on it.
I think it's the shape of the stoen displacements. In the previous version, the have been pretty much rudimentary, which apparently help resemble chunks of dry mud.
Frank
Good Job FrankB, and I think we are in Kansas Toto!.
Frank,
Can you give us any hints how you produced the rows. I need a field of growing crops in the project I am working on but I figure I can make dirt into plant rows.
Bill
it can be good idea to look on the new shader array node to achieve this kind of stuff.
I think Frank used techniques pretty similar to these:

Beautiful sky. Great scene. Realism. 5+++! Fantastic work at all!
Coincidentally I'm working on a small tech pack with presets for field rows. I will be available through NWDA Sunday or Monday, ... about that.
Cheers,
Frank
Very effective! Awesome! Linda
